We are seeking a seasoned Logistics Operations Manager to join a growing cross-border logistics and transportation company serving clients across the SADC region. In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our operations, ensuring efficient deliveries, managing a team, and maintaining strong client relationships – all while leveraging your financial acumen to develop and finalize management accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Logistics Optimization:Plan routes, schedule loads, process booking fees, and allocate resources to ensure cost-effective and timely deliveries across the SADC region.
  • Client Management:Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients, proactively addressing their needs and exceeding expectations.
  • Transportation Management:Oversee the performance of drivers, vehicles, and subcontractors, ensuring they meet budget objectives and deliver exceptional service.
  • Financial Oversight:Develop and finalize management accounts, monitor transportation costs, and implement measures to optimize driver and fuel expenses.
  • Team Leadership:Provide guidance and direction to a team of office staff, drivers, and mechanical maintenance personnel.
  • Compliance & Safety:Ensure all assets, staff, and operations comply with legal and safety regulations, including driver licensing, vehicle maintenance, and insurance documentation.
  • Data & Documentation:Maintain accurate and up-to-date information and document management systems, including filing systems and company tools.
  • Fleet Management:Oversee the onboarding of new vehicles, manage fleet maintenance schedules, and ensure roadworthiness inspections are conducted regularly.
  • Business Development:Identify new business opportunities and cultivate strong relationships with potential clients to expand the company’s reach.

Key requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in a supervisory role within the long-distance/cross-border transport industry.
  • Degree in Finance, Operations, or Management (preferred).
  • Prior experience with financial management and budgeting (2+ years).
  • Strong understanding of logistics and transportation principles.
  • Proven track record of team leadership and client relationship management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
