Are you an audit professional with a strong understanding of SOX controls and a passion for supporting compliance projects? We are partnering with a leading client to identify a Junior SOX Resource to assist with external audit and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) testing requirements on a freelance or consulting basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Support external audit teams in planning and performing SOX 404 testing (design and operating effectiveness of controls).
- Execute walkthroughs and test procedures for key business process controls (financial reporting, revenue, procurement, payroll, etc.).
- Document test results, identify control deficiencies, and assist in drafting findings for management review.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to obtain supporting documentation and clarify control processes.
- Assist in remediation tracking and retesting of previously identified deficiencies.
- Provide administrative and analytical support during audit fieldwork and year-end testing cycles.
- Ensure work performed aligns with PCAOB and global audit standards as well as local regulatory requirements.
Skills & Experience Required
- 1–3 years’ experience in external audit, internal controls, or SOX compliance (Big 4 or mid-tier firm experience advantageous).
- Strong understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404 requirements and related internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO).
- Familiarity with financial statement audits and controls testing methodologies.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and audit tools (e.g., CaseWare, TeamMate, or similar).
- BCom Accounting / Internal Audit or equivalent qualification; progress toward CA(SA) / CIA advantageous.
