We are currently recruiting for an experienced Data Scientist to take on a stimulating role for a global manufacturing firm. The successful candidate will be responsible to help build, improve and expand our existing systems. You will use various tools and software to gather and transform raw data into something of value to the end user. In order to succeed in the position, the prospective candidate would need exceptional analytical skills and the ability to combine data from different sources. He/she would need to be familiar with various programming languages, organizational skills as well as being detail oriented..
You will satisfy the following criteria:
- Previous expertise as a data engineer or in a similar role.
- Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.)
- Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Java and Python)
- Hands-on experience with SQL database design.
- Great numerical and analytical skills.
- Understanding of OT/IT infrastructure, IP addressing protocol.
- Data engineering certification (e.g. IBM certified data engineer) would be advantageous
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Analyse and organize raw data.
- Interpret and interrogate PLC’s with various software including TIA, Simatic Siemens.
- Build data systems and pipelines.
- Make decisions based on Risk/Threat analysis with regards to the implementation of security measures.
- Must be capable of applying the latest technologies and methodologies in machine learning, data modelling and predictive analytics to correlate datasets in order to derive value.
- Architect and work closely with other team-members to drive artificial intelligence and industry 4.0 projects.
- Assist with the management of security management system and rollout of the NIST CSF categories.
- Management of Power Bi & Grafana Dashboards.
- Conduct complex data analysis and report on results.
- Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modelling.
- Combine raw information from different sources.
- Must be cognizant of the Purdue model and implementation thereof into a brownfield environment.
- Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability.
- Identify opportunities for data acquisition.
- OT network communication monitoring, fault finding and analysis.
- Develop analytical tools and programs.
- Ability to exhibit knowledge in the area of information security and methods for threat and risk analysis.
- Collaborate with other data scientists and process engineers on several projects.
- Location: Successful incumbent will primarily be based in Cape Town (West Coast – Blouberg/Tableview/Parklands).
