Our client, a leading telecommunications company, is seeking a skilled and experienced Capacity Planning Engineer to join their team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and scalability of their network and be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including network inventory management, capacity forecasting, feasibility analysis, and network optimization.

 

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Network Inventory Management:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records of network assets, including fibre infrastructure, equipment, and capacities.
    • Conduct regular network audits to verify inventory accuracy and identify potential issues.
    • Collaborate with the network operations team to ensure timely updates to inventory records.
  • Capacity Planning and Forecasting:
    • Analyse network traffic patterns and trends to identify capacity requirements.
    • Develop and implement capacity planning strategies to ensure network performance and scalability.
    • Forecast future capacity needs based on business growth and emerging technologies.
    • Monitor network utilization and proactively address potential capacity bottlenecks.
  • Feasibility Analysis:
    • Evaluate feasibility requests for new services and network expansions.
    • Assess capacity requirements and identify potential challenges.
    • Provide technical recommendations and support to the sales and engineering teams.
  • Network Optimization:
    • Identify opportunities to optimize network performance and reduce costs.
    • Implement network configuration changes to improve efficiency and reliability.
    • Work closely with network operations to troubleshoot network issues and implement corrective actions.

 

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in telecom network planning and engineering.
  • Strong understanding of IP, MPLS, DWDM, and SDH technologies.
  • Proficiency in network management tools and systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
